Web usage in the US is up - Employment websites a growing trend
Google's supremacy in the search market has been a key aspect of a new report published by Nielsen. Employment websites are enjoying good year-by-year growth, as a natural consequence of the financial crisis.
There are also press reports talking about company executives lining up at churches and other places looking out for some free meals for their families, signs that the situation is getting from bad to worse in the US.
“With the current unstable economy and rising unemployment rate, more people are heading online to search for jobs, and interestingly not just the unemployed. The career development category also grew 20 percent year-over-year among at work users, suggesting that many people are trying to build up their resumes and get a sense of the job market before the next potential layoff,” said Chuck Schilling, research director, agency & media from Nielsen Online.
However not everyone is experiencing difficulties. Search Engines are also enjoying significant growth with Google retaining its status as the world's most popular search engine.
Google is being portrayed as the top brand online for US Internet users with over 130 million users visiting the search engine.
